Care Of Your New Paint

Here are some general guidelines to follow when cleaning your motorcycle paint.

IMPORTANT: Make sure not to wax your new paint for at least 12 weeks as this will cause the paint to dull because it has not had enough time to build up the necessary solvents for protection.

Washing

The final area to clean on your bike is the paint. Use the Ultra Plush Wash Mitt® along with Meguiar's NXT Generation Car Wash® to remove bugs and dirt from the paint and other surfaces. Rinse and repeat as necessary.

Water spots can be eliminated by properly drying your motorcycle. If you have one, use an air compressor hose, which can quickly and safely chase water from its many surfaces. You can use a chamois to trap the water as it is being chased from these surfaces.

Paint Polishing and Waxing

Hand polishing is the safest way to polish a motorcycle. This is a tedious process, but the results are worth it. Try to always hand polish in a cool, shaded area. Always work in small areas using Meguiar’s Swirl Remover and Applicator Pad®, one fender or half of a tank at a time. Polish should be applied with a soft cotton towel or an applicator pad. Apply polishes in a back and forth motion following the bikes bodylines. Refer to manufacturer's instructions. Wax with Meguiar's NXT Generation Tech Wax® using an Ultimate Wipe Detailing Cloth® in the same manner, allowing the wax to be left on the surface for 15-20 minutes before removal.
